What we CAN see clearly is that he is right to an extent; there are very clearly opposites; the man, in the light, thinking deeply and immobile. Whereas the woman is in total darkness and is busy doing chores in life. Perhaps the woman is so involved she cannot search for the meaning of life, while the philosopher leads his simple life and has time to think about such things, the painting also shows how two completely different sides of the same coin, so to speak can live close together-maybe even opposing forces. I think I could envision these two quarreling amongst themselves.

-David, 13 years of ageAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15681046.post-8203931668052648822013-01-10T21:03:44.760-08:002013-01-10T21:03:44.760-08:00Visit Theoneworldinitiative as here our masters wi...Visit Theoneworldinitiative as here our masters will gave you a chance to recognize what is the meaning of life and how to exist it in an adequate way. I think that's a good way to look at life. I've been searching for the Meaning of Life since I first heard Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy many many years ago. There is a wonderful book by Terry Eagleton, "Meaning of Life". I would also recommend that you go one of two ways. You either pursue this question by resorting to the conventional means or you give up the search and concentrate on becoming rich and prosperous. Let me explain. If you truly wish to answer this question then you can begin with seeing a neuropsychiatrist. I am serious. This is to ensure that you are psychologically healthy. This will save you much time and headache. Also, a good neuropsychiatrist will be able to tell you if your search is what they call a 'shadow syndrome'. Sometimes our brain misfires and we deal with this in a very real way, unfortunately. A perfect example is the phantom limb. If you can a clean bill of health from your neuropsychiatrist then I would go to step 2. See if you have a religious calling because people who pursue these questions, at an early age, could have a religious calling. It is possible that you are a writer or a poet and you are trying to find a way of expressing yourself and so begin expressing the inner in some way. Stop using the analytical mind to express that which needs to be expressed through the artistic medium. The third suggestion, and these are not mutually exclusive, is for you to get involved in your community, in charity works. Get involved with your hands, in gardening, in concrete things.
I also said that making lots of money and getting rich is an option. Why? There is a book in the Bible, Ecclesiastes, which deals with the meaning of life. The conclusion of the book: work hard, drink, be merry, love the woman of your youth and don't do evil. After going through all the things that make us happy, including riches, that is the conclusion of the wise man of the Bible- drink, be merry, love your woman and obey the law. But, it is better to have money then not to have money. So, have money because you will be happier. I wish you the best. Good bye!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15681046.post-33875751200071536692012-04-28T11:40:26.734-07:002012-04-28T11:40:26.734-07:00I love your analogy. It is beautiful. I recall asking someone about it and that was the name given by a professor from Princeton. I mention the university as a way of propping up my argument (logical fallacy). Just stay with the feeling and let it burn. Eventually it will go away. There is a great book called Focusing that you may wish to get. It trains the person on how to just stay in a given situation.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15681046.post-45167797649553828092012-04-28T11:29:14.977-07:002012-04-28T11:29:14.977-07:00Do you think that everyone is concerned wit...Do you think that everyone is concerned with the meaning of life? I am sure that you have considered this. As you know, there are times in our lives when this search seems to be quite natural. When? Men call it the mid life crisis. In Eastern cultures, a lot of men join various religious groups to find out what it is all about. The rule is that once they have achieved the material aims then they pursue the spiritual. It reminds me of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Some people have a natural propensity to search for the meaning of life. Maybe there is something to being an old soul and I use this in a very special way. Some people are natural born philosophers who cannot find the answer in modern day philosophy. Early 20th century existentialists, religious and atheist, kept looking for the answer. There are people with various neurological disorders who seem to have a liking for these type of questions. For example, people who have seizure disorders or people with migraines, love the "meaning of life" questions. But, it does not mean that it is not a real question. It is a case of necessary but not sufficient. People who are depressed love talking about the meaning of life. There is more but one really has to know oneself. I have said enough for your to reflect on but you already have, right?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15681046.post-74009737770717370812012-04-28T11:07:28.800-07:002012-04-28T11:07:28.800-07:00Let us say that you found this secret of l...Let us say that you found this secret of life, if that is what you are really looking for. Examine the difference between transcendence and immanence. In the realm of immanence where the concrete takes place, one has to obey the regular laws, "if this, then that", but in the other realm, that is not the case. So, what does that have to do with your purpose? The answer is quite simple.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15681046.post-46364262440727678562012-04-22T02:00:08.278-07:002012-04-22T02:00:08.278-07:00The meaning of life is broken and forever in a tan...The meaning of life is broken and forever in a tangled web of infinite questions..somewhere along the way money became the root of all evil..and I am. Tired of it..I know the world is tired of it..We all need to come together and stop hating on eachother for all the wrong reasons..We all started from nothing..like human beings in general..i think religion is the root of all evil for example..it created the word evil..and it allows people to have a placebo. Or a easy way out.. And that's beautiful but people need to find happiness with theirselves...I'm venting and had a realizition of sudden truth..I want to help the world out..but have no idea how to...any good ideas?..we are intelligent as Ghandi right now..we came up with great plans for the bigger picture..but it envolves a lot of coming together and its all about the youth and what they are taught..and why they/we are taught all the same curriculum...I'm venting a little and for that readers I appologise..but why on earth? Do we have to learn history? And why do they expect the usa to believe the crap they fill our head
s with...george washington? First president? Wooden teeth cut down a cherry chair and
crossed a delaware river...just useless information..and the technology explosion? Somethings going on that they aren't telling us..like something I'm affraid to even get into on here..anyway..hope you use your knowledge of the meaning of life to better the world.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15681046.post-79317113771182787602012-03-27T11:15:34.563-07:002012-03-27T11:15:34.563-07:00Wow.

Just for a moment every day, we need to think about how blind we are to our purpose but at the same time accept it. We need to open our eyes to all the taken for granted beauty that surrounds us everyday and learn to breath steadily during stressful or unwanted situations. We are all equal, humans, animals, nature, and earth, we are the same and equally important. My purpose, my meaning, is to bring humans together and connect ends that would otherwise continue to drift apart. I hope we can all truly feel equal one day soonSo Suddenly Meaninglesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15339374104803940531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15681046.post-56572482032877985082012-02-22T09:50:08.235-08:002012-02-22T09:50:08.235-08:00Will, hi, I'm new to your site. Just found it...Will, hi, I'm new to your site. Just found it while searching for a meaningful blog to participate in. As I'm new, forgive my lack of knowledge about you as I respond to your post.

As someone who has long struggled with these ideas myself, I can say with utter conviction that looking "outside yourself" for THE ANSWER yields little to no satisfactory productivity. But, you're no doubt thinking (and you're right), if you don't have any idea what to look for then you have to search until you find something that resonates as the starting point of your "path of action". I call those points my "ah hah" moments.

I can only assume that you are deeply driven to find a purpose because you are convinced you must have one. For what it's worth, what has helped me the most with these questions has been to first understand myself and what drives me. So, cause and effect: I am driven to find my purpose-why do I think/feel I have one? I need to know the reason I am here-why am I convinced there is one? What am I supposed to be achieving-why do I have be achieving something beyond my daily routine?

You say that you first understand what you want to achieve and then figure out how to achieve it but maybe consider why you feel the urge to achieve "it" and why you feel there's an "it" to be achieved. If you look deep into your drives/motivations and understand what makes you tick then you may (as I did) get clearer perspectives on the answers. That being said, short of being visited by an otherworldly being and flat out being told your purpose and destiny, you won't likely ever have a concrete answer to these questions. BUT! That doesn't mean you don't get guidance. Once I understood myself-which, by the way, took a long time and serious self questioning, observation of patterns, introspection, meditations of sorts, etc but was highly rewarding and fun as heck every step of the way-I began to see anwers EVERYWHERE. It's only a matter of getting to the point where you can see them. Teaching yourself the language, so to speak.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15681046.post-85333770932542229532012-01-29T02:32:39.566-08:002012-01-29T02:32:39.566-08:00Do you think that perhaps the meaning of life itse...Do you think that perhaps the meaning of life itself is meaningless ... I mean by knowing what life is meant to be, is that going to help you in anyway? I'm fairly young but I consider myself fairly wise because of my nature to be inquisitive. Through my thoughts and my personal life experiences is it possible that the meaning of life is simply to live. It may sound simple but scientifically, if we delve into Biology and evolution then isn't our only reason for living reproducing and maintaining the growth of the human race. OK this isn't the most optimistic view of life but that is our one function and biologically we are wired to protect our own life and our children's. I guess this won;t satisfy you however and the thought that life is what you make of it and we all strive for happiness in life would be a better interpretation. I mean we all want to be happy and our own happiness drives us to be successful in whatever manner necessary.
As you can see I'm also interested in Life as a philosophy, if you are interested you can check my blog which I just started: http://thelittleinquirer.blogspot.com/
The InquirerThe Inquirerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01671947635132068478noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15681046.post-53115520664269123962012-01-04T18:58:09.613-08:002012-01-04T18:58:09.613-08:00Exactly right....I rem the first time I used a mic...Exactly right....I rem the first time I used a microscope to view unseen to the human eye, organisms and thought to myself can they see us? or what else cannot be seen with the human eye or human technology?

Although every living creature on this planet living or dead for the most part was born to parents, breathes , eats , Kills, pro creates and dies so why are we as human beings special or more important than all the other earth inhabitants?
